The Record
Most of what keeps a city running is buried, wired, or piped. Under Mayor Robichaux, Rayne has invested where it counts: the water plant, the power supply, the drainage system, and the places families gather.
Financed through the Louisiana Department of Health Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund and the EPA. The work includes a new clarifier, added storage, and system flushing so every tap in Rayne gets safe, dependable water.
New standby generators keep critical city systems running when storms knock out the grid.
New culverts, cleaned laterals, and rebuilt crossings move water off streets and away from homes.
As a city with its own electric system, Rayne crews work to restore power after every storm.
A 14 acre site donated to the city became a place where, in the mayor's words, “the kids, grandparents, and parents, they can fish, and they can exercise.” Gossen Park gained new air conditioned restrooms and a larger concession stand.
Opened in 1953 to encourage literacy in Rayne's African American community, the Bunche Library was moved and restored in March 2024. A city sponsored historic marker now honors it as a symbol of unity and progress.

Meet Chuck
Chuck Robichaux has served as Mayor of Rayne since first winning election in 2014. Rayne voters returned him to office in 2018 and again in 2022.
He runs City Hall the way Rayne expects: hands on, close to the work, and present at ribbon cuttings, classroom visits, council meetings, and job sites across town. His focus has stayed the same across three terms. Fix the systems people depend on every day, and give families good places to spend their time.
Recognition
Community Achievement Award for Exceptional Merit in Community Improvement, presented with the Louisiana Municipal Association, Louisiana Economic Development, and LIDEA.
Elected vice chairman of the Louisiana Energy and Power Authority board of directors by fellow member cities.
Chosen by fellow members to lead the Louisiana Energy and Power Authority, the joint power agency for 17 Louisiana cities that run their own electric systems.
The Next Four Years
The upgrades started under Mayor Robichaux are long term investments. A fourth term keeps them on schedule and on budget.
Complete the infrastructure plan for Rayne's electrical, sewer, and water systems so service stays reliable and rates stay steady.
Keep building out Gossen Park, Mauboules Park, and the fishing pond so kids have safe, positive things to do year round.
Restore historic downtown buildings and protect the murals and heritage that make Rayne the Frog Capital of the World.
